Lipoxygenase Enzymes, Oligosaccharides (Raffinose and Stachyose) and 11sA4 and A5 Globulins of Glycinin Present in Soybean Meal Are Not Drivers of Enteritis in Juvenile Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)

چکیده

Soybean meal has been largely investigated and commercially used in fish nutrition. However, its inclusion levels have carefully considered due to the presence of antinutritional factors, which depending on a series factors might induce gut inflammation damaging mucosal integrity causing enteritis. Several strategies including genetic engineering applied attempting reduce or eliminate some factors. Accordingly, we assessed intestinal health juvenile Atlantic salmon fed high speciality soybean genotypes with reduced-to-no content amounts lipoxygenases, altered glycinin profile reduced oligosaccharides. No major signs enteritis, only indication enteritis progression, was noticed meal-based diets illustrated by mild changes distal intestine morphology. Whereas fish, fishmeal control feeds, displayed normal integrity. Speciality types did not improve suggesting these antinutrients are drivers inflammatory process this species. additional benefits terms production performance blood biochemistry were compared traditional soybean.

Atlantic salmon – Salmo salar

Distribution Th e species’ range encompasses Europe, North America, and Green land (1) (Fig.1). Non-anadromous forms occur in Europe in a few land-locked locations in Norway and Sweden, and throughout the Neva/Lake Ladoga system and Karelia regions of Russia. In North America non-anadromous forms occurred throughout most of the species’ historical range, as far west as Lake Ontario, and remain ...

Two cathelicidin genes are present in both rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and atlantic salmon (Salmo salar).

Further to the previous finding of the rainbow trout rtCATH_1 gene, this paper describes three more cathelicidin genes found in salmonids: two in Atlantic salmon, named asCATH_1 and asCATH_2, and one in rainbow trout, named rtCATH_2. All the three new salmonid cathelicidin genes share the common characteristics of mammalian cathelicidin genes, such as consisting of four exons and possessing a h...

Immunoglobulin Isotypes in Atlantic Salmon, Salmo Salar

There are three major immunoglobulin (Ig) isotypes in salmonid fish: IgM, IgD and IgT, defined by the heavy chains μ, δ and τ, respectively. As a result of whole genome duplication in the ancestor of the salmonid fish family, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) possess two highly similar Ig heavy chain gene complexes (A and B), comprising two μ genes, two δ genes, three intact τ genes and five τ pseu...

Effect of feeding rate on nutrient digestibility in Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L.

A digestibility trial was conducted to examine the effect of feeding rate on dry matter, gross energy, crude protein and phosphorus digestibility in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). Duplicate groups of fish were fed 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25 and 1.9% BW/day. The faeces were collected by Guelph-type collectors for five successive days. Dry matter, protein and phosphorus digestibility’s were all s...
